Van G. Garrett
Van G. Garrett is the author of KICKS and its forthcoming companion picture book SPECS, both illustrated by Reggie Brown, and JUNETEENTH (all Versify/HarperCollins). He is the winner of the Texas Association of Authors Best Book of African American Poetry for his book 49: Wings and Prayers. He writes poetry, picture books, and fiction, and (in his spare time) is also a musician and a visual artist. He lives in Houston.
