Amy Young
Amy Young is one educated woman! She went to the Cleveland Institute of Art, Yale University (BA), Indiana University (MFA in painting), and Harvard Law (JD). After practicing law for seven years, Amy “retired” to follow her true passion -– being a fulltime illustrator. As an illustrator, she has worked for many corporate clients, including The New York Times, Child magazine, The Chicago Tribune, and The Boston Globe Magazine. But what she really wanted to do was to write and illustrate books for children. In 2002, she did just that, with BELINDA THE BALLERINA (Viking) — and she has never looked back. Amy’s latest book, DON’T EAT THE BABY, a deliciously fresh take on the new sibling story, was published by Viking Children’s Books. Her next picture book, A UNICORN NAMED SPARKLE (Farrar, Straus & Giroux) was Amy’s breakout title. When Amy isn’t painting, she plays Irish fiddle in a local session, swims, naps, and eats chocolate. Amy lives in Michigan with her talented husband, Paul; her cat Xena, Warrior Princess (the feline formerly known as Lady Gaga); and her oh-so-elegant dog, Sophie Rose.
