Tina Bossio

Tina Bossio writes picture books about kids who notice things nobody else does, and the one person who finally looks with them. Her stories run from deadpan comedy to lyrical realism and share a belief that children should be met where they are, not fixed. Tina was born in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, the daughter of a Norwegian sailor, and raised in Westchester County by her German mother. When she was seven, her home of two became a busy home of six. That’s when she wrote her first poem about jelly beans. Over twenty-five years in marketing taught her that every word must earn its place on the page. She has also spent more than a decade building STEAM curriculum for young children. Every one of her stories started with something that really happened: spicy toothpaste, an upside-down turtle, a four-year-old who announced he was stuck in the rainy car window. Tina now lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband and two sons.
